About the event
The workshop will follow this structure:
• 4:30–4:40 – Check in, get settled, mentoring
• 4:40–5:15 – Learn the basics
• 5:15–6:00 – Make & Take: create ready-to-use projects and activities
• 6:00 - 6:30 - Feel free to stay and ask questions or receive one-on-one coaching
This session will explore how to use Elkonin boxes/orthographic mapping to help students develop phonemic awareness and encoding skills. Participants will work in pairs to practice using these visual tools to segment sounds and build words. You'll leave with a collection of Elkonin box activities that you can use immediately in your classroom.
