Fall learning is in full swing

The leaves are starting to turn, the school year is finding its rhythm, and SLVTLC's October calendar is packed. This month brings two hands-on Literacy Learning in Action workshops at SUNY Potsdam, two NYSALL webinar series, and a board meeting.

Whether you want practical strategies for Monday morning or a deeper understanding of how students learn, there's something here for you. Here's everything on the October calendar.

What's happening in October

Literacy Learning in Action workshops

Our in-person workshop series meets on Mondays from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at SUNY Potsdam. Each session focuses on one bite-sized topic and sends you home with activities you can use in your classroom right away.

  • Monday, Oct 19: Data-Driven Instruction. Turn the assessment data you already collect into clear next steps for instruction.

  • Monday, Oct 26: Early Literacy. Build the strong reading foundations young learners need. Correction from the video - I said Oct. 28th on accident it is in fact Oct. 26th!

NYSALL Professional Learning webinars

Two new three-part webinar series kick off this month. Register now so you're set for the first session.

Habits for Resilient Learners with Amanda Brueggeman

  • Thursday, Oct 1 (session 1 of 3)

  • Thursday, Oct 15 (session 2 of 3)

  • Tuesday, Oct 6 (session 1 of 3)

  • Tuesday, Oct 20 (session 2 of 3)

  • Tuesday, Nov 3 (session 3 of 3)

Webinar times will be posted on each event's registration page.

Coming up in November: a new online book study, Comprehensive Literacy For All, opens on Nov 1, and our Knowledge Building workshop is on Nov 2. Keep an eye on the blog for the full November lineup.

We hope to see you this month, whether that's in person in Potsdam or online from your own classroom. Bring a colleague along, because learning is always better together.
